Faustson Tool Streamlines and Redirects Resources Toward Innovative Uses for 3D Printing
Faustson Tool is a high precision machine shop and worldwide leader in 5 Axis Manufacturing Technology that specializes in providing innovative solutions to a wide array of manufacturing trials throughout the aerospace, defense, medical, semi-conductor, energy, and aeronautic industries. Started approximately 30 years ago in an 80 square foot facility with two employees, Faustson has steadily grown into a nationally recognized Woman-owned small business housed in a 16,000 square foot facility with upwards of 20 employees. The Jefferson County Economic Development Corporation recently honored Faustson with a Business Recognition Award in 2012 for the company’s growth in primary employment and capital investment.
The Faustson mission statement is “to provide high quality products and services to our customers in the agreed upon delivery time, to gain, and retain their loyalty.” In keeping with the spirit of their mission, Faustson owner Alicia Svaldi solicited the help of Manufacturer’s Edge (formerly CAMT) in order to help them continue growing and improving as a company while also furthering the knowledge base of each individual employee and working toward the company’s goal of having little to no environmental impact. To that end, Manufacturer’s Edge provided Faustson training and assistance in Set Up Reduction, Green Value Stream Mapping (E3), and ISO.
As a result of the partnering effort with Manufacturer’s Edge, Faustson has increased sales by streamlining their workflow thereby freeing up time on the machines in order to reach and satisfy a higher volume of clients’ needs. This experience has also provided Faustson with the ability to explore an exciting new arena and, as a result, they are currently in the process of acquiring a 3D printer specific to metal alloys such as titanium and aluminum, which will further solidify their presence as an innovative leader. Thus allowing them the opportunity to assist in design cycle reduction efforts that the current manufacturing industry faces.
When I think of CAMT (Manufacturer's Edge), simply put, they have made me a better owner and made us such a contender in the market. (Manufacturer's Edge) is absolutely the best thing this state has to offer.Alicia Svaldi, President
